About

MCKL offers pre-university courses such as A Level, AUSMAT and Professional Accounting CAT & ACCA. Other Ccourses offered - American Degree Transfer

Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) was founded as a private educational institution in January 1983 by the Methodist Council of Education.

The Founding Principal was Mrs. F R Bhupalan. Secondary classes (Forms 1 to 5), Sixth Form and A-level classes were conducted and the enrollment increased dramatically with the success achieved by the College.

Due to the growing student population, a new campus was established in Sentul in 1994 and Forms 1 to 5 classes were moved in stages to what is now called the Wesley Methodist School, Sentul. This move was completed in 1999 and Methodist College Kuala Lumpur, Brickfields is now focused on providing pre-university studies, diploma and certificate level courses as a private higher education institute (Institut Pengajian Tinggi Swasta – IPTS).

In 2000 the Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) programme of the Curriculum Council, Western Australia was added to the GCE A-level, U.K. pre-university studies programme. Both the GCE A-level and AUSMAT programmes have successfully prepared numerous students for admission to overseas universities in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, U.S.A., Singapore, India and many other countries as well as to local private university colleges.

The Diploma in Early Childhood Education (DECE) programme to train professional early childhood educators started in 2005 and it has been producing well-trained and well-rounded teachers. MCKL also has strong ties with foreign universities who accepts our DECE graduates as final year students in their degree in education programmes.

The Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching and Learning (CIDTL) was introduced in 2010 to help teachers develop their professional thinking and practice and enhance the quality of their teaching and learning.

In 2014, MCKL kicked off the American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP), a programme best known for its flexibility.

In 2017, MCKL became the first private institution to offer a Diploma in Social Work programme. In 2020, the programme received accreditation.

MCKL also offers professional courses in accounting - CAT and ACCA.
