helo.my: Squid Game is an incredible (if not kind of terrifying) show that has many iconic moments. Perhaps one of the most iconic is in episode 2, when the contestants struggle to cut out shapes made in the honeycomb-esque candy known as Dalgona. What some folks may not know is this is a Korean treat that's eaten all the time and is super simple to make at home.
Dalgona is made in ladles over small burners on the streets of many Korean cities and is a very popular treat with kids. If you don't have a ladle, you could use a heavy-bottomed, metal measuring cup. Simply melt sugar until amber in color (stirring to avoid crystallization), then stir in a bit of baking soda. The baking soda reacts with the hot sugar and aerates to form a crispy, beautiful candy. Pour it onto parchment and stamp it with a cookie cutter shape of your choice. At this point you could even press in a little stick to make it the perfect on-the-go snack.
